Our Bird Family.....

Let me introduce you to the most spoiled members of our family, Bird and Bird-Bird, or if you want to be original, Bird's other name is Ace and Bird-Bird's other name is Harley.

Bird joined our family almost two years ago. We sometimes birdsit our neighbors bird and enjoy him so much, we decided to get one of our own. Bird is a feisty cockatiel with an attitude. He truly thinks he is the most important person in the house and can have and do whatever he wants...His favorite places to hang out are on Bill's shoulders, the back of the couch and upside down in the mirror. He has a bright smily face and can always make you laugh.
Bird-Bird joined our family just a few months ago. Our first Bird was getting kind of lonely and needed a friend. Cockatiels get lonely, they want attention all day long. We would all play with him and let him out for several hours each day, but he wanted a bird friend also. We found Bird-Bird in the KSL ads and literally rescued him from a very scary place. He is absolutely beautiful, almost all white and his orange spot is very vibrant. He can whistle really cute and is just darling. He's leanrning how to fly again so he's a bit of a spaz sometimes. We just keep hoping he doesn't break his neck when he crash-lands. He's been in environments where he has had to defend himself, so he was pretty aggressive at first. He's mellowed out a lot though and is doing much better. He's learning how to live in a home where people take good care of him and he is loved.
The birds get a long great and keep each other company. It's like having two 3 year olds in the house. They have different personalities and like different things.
When we come home they chirp and dance and they always smile at us. I never thought I would be much of a "pet" person, however, Birds are fun to have around. I think it's a lot easier now that my children are getting older. Plus, I think I've mellowed out a lot, which is necessary when your house has gone to the birds!
